Set Your Unity’s Layout to the Industry Standard
A tool’s layout is meant to increase your productivity by eliminating the need to switch back and forth between multiple windows or views. Here, I’d like to help you set up the quickest way to roam within Unity by creating a new layout.
When you’d open up Unity, you shall land on the default layout. There is nothing wrong with the default layout but we can enhance it for our convenience.
There are 4 quick steps to get this in shape.
- Click on the right-most drop-down arrow where you can see “Default” selected and then change it to the “Tall” layout.
2. Now, right-click & hold on the game view panel and drag it to the bottom section. This is going to get your game & scene views stacked, which is best when starting out with Unity.
3. Now, move a little right from those two giant views and arrange the project layout from two column to one column layout. The two column design has a preview functionality but you won’t need it at the beginning.
4.And that's pretty much it. Now, save the layout so that you could switch to it anytime you want.
Thank you very much
